quit offering these weak degrees and classes at universities just so players can play on the field.

musicians can major in music performance, why can't athletes major in sports performance? With classes on money management, things related to coaching, marketing yourself, handling media, etc. Not everyone should be choosing this path, especially if the pros/coaching are not a realistic option. Just like music performance degrees, they have to "audition" for a spot in the program.

What is wrong with that? Better than academic fraud.

I understand that athletics have become big business and produce much revenue and because of that universities have lowered their standards and changed curriculums to accommodate many students that have no business being in college while spending thousands of dollars on tutors to keep them eligible.

this is true but you, I and millions of others aren't going to change it. do you know that pistol pete got thrown out of LSU right after his eligibility ended? he didn't go to class and in fact never went to class. I had him in two classes that called roll and a stand in said "here" for him every class.

Literally every college in the country lowers their academic standards for athletes.

Harvard lowers their standards for football players.

They're young and they got their health. What would they want with a college degree?

The standards are there, along with a lot of loopholes.

I'm for returning college sports back to featuring student athletes and not being a farm program for the pros.

I'd argue that many (or most) Div. II, III, NAIA, etc. are exactly as you're hoping for. It's just the big D-I schools that are different.
