Anthony Davis is on his way to earning All-NBA honors this season, an accomplishment that would make him super max eligible in the summer of 2019. Based on earning All-NBA in 2016-17 and likely 2017-18 (two out of the previous three seasons), Davis would be eligible to sign a five-year $230M extension with a starting salary of $39.7M in July 2019. The extension could project to be the largest in NBA history.

How would this factor into any deals with signing players before that time comes?

It wouldn't. The team is done using cap space for moves. AD would get this raise after you've already decided to build a tax paying team around AD/DC. The main thing this impacts is you'd have so much money tied up in AD/DC/Jrue that if you were to trade for a 4th star level player like Kemba or Lillard/McCollum, you'd need to eventually cash Jrue in for multiple cheaper players. A big 4 just isn't sustainable in this market.

You roll with Davis/Cousins/Holiday/Mirotic. They are all in their prime. You then stop trading picks and try to groom them into good role players.
Demps has finished the roster build. They have contending level top end talent and role players. Now you just get healthy and contend.

THIS is the scenario my body is ready for.

Yup. This roster, with Solo back and everyone healthy - especially if you can trade Ajinca for anyone with a pulse - is the 3rd best team in the West.

Package Ajinca with picks for a PG that can distribute the ball and limit TOs. PGs are so devalued that we should be able to get a serviceable one.

NBA is throwing around stupid money. If you are a serious multi sport athlete, the round ball is where it's at.

See the problem there though?
3 guys essentially play the same position.
We need that money invested on better role players.

Yeah but you get a full game of extremly elite to Super Star play in the post. This should be an incredible advantage.
