I’m looking into getting a Samsung Curved 65” model MU8500.
A friend recently bought a new tv and said the geek squad guy told him to do himself a favor & never buy a curved tv. Anyone know why? My friend obviously didn’t ask why.

Curved is a gimmick.

Less of a viewing angle. The only advantage it gives is if you are sitting directly in front of it, which allows only 1 person to have the optimal view and gives everyone else a suboptimal view, even compared to flat screens.

I wouldn't call it a gimmick, but it is definitely a niche situation. It genuinely creates a more immersive experience for one person at the right distance. Perfect for a personal viewing / theater room, not good for muxh else.

I always felt curved was a gimmick too. My parents have a 49" curved Samsung and seem to love it though.

Unless you're sitting RIGHT in front of the tv, curved does absolutely nothing to enhance the experience.

It's a Samsung gimmick at this point that will go away soon.

The best thing about curved tvs is they make amazing computer monitors in the smaller sizes since you DO sit close to that.
