The Russian Epithet and the Closing of the Liberal Mind

Reading Fox Mulder's thread about Latarvis, combined with the news about Twitter deleting or locking accounts believed to be Russian trolls, really illustrates the devolution of intellectual debate with progressives since this whole Russian collusion angle began.
It appears that a vast swath of progressives, when not wanting to engage in a debate about an issue, summarily dismiss one as being a Russian agent or bot, so that no debate or intellectual stimulation is required. They have done this with Edward Snowden. They have done this with Julian Assange. They have done this with Devin Nunes. They have done this with Tucker Carlson. They have done this with Glenn Greenwald.
Despite your feelings about Donald Trump, how is this kind of reflexive slander about political figures and journalists with whom you disagree beneficial to any political discussion?

I was born in 84 and our generation constantly heard that we were special and that our ideas even when provably wrong we’re still good ideas. Many in my generation are learning that they are not important and being wrong is not ok. Therefore, they throw tantrums and shut down discussion. The idea of being wrong and not being special isn’t something they can face. Thank Boomers for raising a generation of people incapable of dealing with reality

We might be the worst generation.
That’s on us of course. We could look around, see how things actually work, and grow up.
But it’s also a mark of how bad our parents were, and all the awful ideas they embraced.

social media isnt a platform for debate and hasn’t been for some time. Its full of trolls, idiots, bots and attention seekers on both sides.

People who jump when Trump tweets the latest stupid lie might should get their own mental house in order before casting aspersions around.
Seriously, Trumpsters have to be the most willing dupes in history.

I didn't vote for Trump, but thanks for completely ignoring the question and reinforcing my original post.

It is merely an extension of calling all who disagree racist, sexist, whatever.
They will always come up with a bullshite reason that you do not even have the right to question them.
They must do that because they are selling a sham.
Would you expect them to tell you why they want speaker pelosi, for example?
That is utterly indefensible so you are thrown in the "sexist" bucket.

We were smart enough not to vote for Hillary.

I mean, in the case of Fox’s Latarvis thread, the crazy lib was entirely right to dismiss the claim as bullshite.
She was wrong about the loser troll being an american white kid rather than a russian basement dweller, but it was clearly something that didn’t deserve to be taken seriously. Fox doesn’t deserve to be mentioned anywhere in the same sphere as Snowden and Assange
