If so did you get a notification when your Apple TV shipped?

For those that don’t know, if you prepay for 4 months of Directv now, they send you a free Apple TV 4K.

It was a pretty easy decision for me since I already have PlayStation Vue (recently went up to $45/month. Essentially paying $20 ($5/mo more) for a $180 box. I also noticed right off the bat that i like their guide much more than PSVue’s. I also get a local channel that I don’t get with PSVue.

I did the 7 day trial with them and really liked the layout and that they had all the locals available. They told me I had to pick between the 7 day trial and doing the apple tv deal but I'm still on my discounted ATT bundle. Whenever my price goes up, I'll likely just cancel and use a different email to do the 4kTV deal.

I've seen them advertise, you can do the $35/month base package, so $140 up front and get it. I really would still want the channels in the $50 so I wonder if you can sign up and then just pay the $15 difference for 4 months.

Is the DirecTV Now DVR out of beta and available to everyone yet? If so, how is it? Also, I know someone that did the Roku Stick promotion in December. They were told it'd be 2-3 weeks, but he got it within a week. Obviously the Apple TV shipping could be completely different, but for the Roku Promotion they seemed to be overly cautious with the ship time.

I did the first Apple TV deal they had when DirecTV Now first launched, this was back in December 2016 or so. I went down to an At&T store and got mine that day, but from what I understood back then the Apple TVs were shipped out to folks fairly quickly, like within 4 days or so.

not that I've seen.

I did, the Apple TV arrived pretty quickly. I’ll probably cancel direct tv now since currently only have a single tv on direct tv satellite with basic package for about $14 after all discounts and having unlimited cell service with att.

How many devices or TVs can you use it on? Can I have four TVs with Directv now?

Just 2, and they apparently don't even have a reasonably priced add more streams option.

quote:

you can stream DIRECTV NOW on up to two devices concurrently. Each DIRECTV NOW account with a subscription plan can stream on up to two devices at the same time. The second simultaneous stream is included at no additional charge.

If more than two concurrent streams are necessary, we recommend an additional DIRECTV NOW account.

I have been looking at this recently too. Actually right now they have the same deal running, but you only have to prepay for 3 months instead of 4.

I called and they said that you have to prepay for whatever package you want to have, so if you want the $60 package you will have to prepay for that for 3 months. You can't choose the $35 package and then change 1 month in.

I signed up for the 7 day trail and I like it. It will be 100% better when the DVR feature is released to everyone. I watch about 90% of my shows after they air so that is the one think that has been keeping me from pulling the trigger sooner. According to different sites, the DVR will be available in the next few months.

I’m out then. Seems like they’ve created this as an option for people who would like to cut the cord. But When they evaluate it and note how limited and shitty it is they just run back to traditional plans.

You can definetly have 4 tv's with direct tv now but can only stream two at the same time. Thats the only thing i can find that sucks with direct tv now. wish they would make it 3 streams.

I never got an email when mine shipped but it was at my house by the end of the week.
I also switched from PS Vue, we pretty much had the same situation. Much better guide. I have noticed it will buffer more than Vue but it doesn’t bother me too much.

I am looking forward to the DVR function.

Directv now is awesome.

We did it back when it came out and got the newest (at the time) Apple TV for 3 prepaid months.

Then we went back to and did like 2 months with a new email and got a Roku box.

I want the 4K Apple TV but don’t have a 4K tb so not really worth the hassle.

The other thing is we have unlimited data eith att for our phones. That gives us I think a $25 credit on directv now and hbo.

So we get directv now and hbo for $10 a month. Can’t beat it.

I did not but got it. Did the original deal when it came out.

Side note, hated the remote and bought a Roku.

Streaming is close, but isn't quite there yet as a true replacement for cable/sat - at least for our house of 4.

Each service seems to be missing one or two things we need. For example, DTV has all of the channels we need, but limits on concurrent streams, no DVR and no locals in Baton Rouge. YouTube TV has 6 concurrent streams, unlimited DVR and locals - but missing a few networks that are deal breakers in our house. Same with Sling, PSVue and others - just seem to be missing a key ingredient that prevents us from ditching traditional service.

Of all the services, I really enjoyed Youtube TV the best in terms of menu/guide layout and ease of use. Watching this one very closely...
