That’s like saying a Glock 17 and a Glock 18 are the same... what’s the difference???

BATFE considers them VERY different.

You can buy mil spec, but there are certain brands that cater to that crowd. Most guns are built to commercial specs. Functionally, there is a HUGE difference between military firearms and their civilian counterparts.

I have a .223/5.56 in both hunting rifle and AR. They shoot the same ammo. They’re both semi auto. They’re identical in respect to how fast I can put rounds downrange. The only difference is the ACOG optic on my AR and the 3x9x50 on my hunting rifle. You could easily argue that I’m more deadly with the hunting rifle, as I have a clearer picture downrange and have a longer effective range.

Why is my AR scarier?
