You’re right, and the litter in particular is an indicator of the people themselves and what they think of their own city. That’s got to change. The city’s reluctance to change missing or damaged guard rails for instance along the interstate for almost as long as I’ve been alive is due to them not being pushed by the citizens to do a damn thing. Same can be said for the sludge under the overpasses or weeds taking over the fences. It’s just an overall carelessness and it sends a message to everyone passing through. BR haters couldn’t care less, but for anyone who says they care about this city, THIS should piss you the F off.

It really does. It's so easily preventable and isn't even an expensive fix.

It really is bad in most of the city. There are a few neighborhoods with some really nice home architecture, but most of the commercial architecture is ugly and generic post-war suburban sprawl. That's not something unique to BR by any stretch of the imagination (pretty much any place that saw major development between 1950 and 1980 looks exactly the same), but a very valid criticism.

I agree entirely. Litter is easily preventable and relatively cheap to clean up.

However, there are so much bigger fish to fry that it's hard to get mad over something like littering.
