based on PM's strategy he should be taking grounders while on the infield grass

Good for him. Made an error or two in the field, but at least he's doing whatever it takes to get better and fix his mistakes.

He needs to after booting that ball in the 1st.
In all seriousness if you want to know the work it takes to be a mlb shortstop just watch him the rest of the season. I guarantee this won't be the last time he is taking grounders after a game.

Honestly, that first error was bullshite. Not many players in baseball can stop that ball.

When Bregman did this LSU ended up losing 2/3 that weekend to South Carolina.

I was not happy at all with pulling the infield in in those 3 innings. In the 1st and 3rd, it’s way too early to give up outs (which happened) and in the 5th, we were down 5 runs already and saving a single run didn’t seem as imprortant as an out. Odd decisions all of them.

I disagree. I though it was scored correctly live and seeing the replay at The Box. I saw it again on TV when I got home. It was correctly scored an error IMO.

That was weird as hell.

I understand doing it when we got down a few runs, doing it down 1-0 was kind of stupid to me.
The other puzzling decision was not pinch running for Chris Reid after he got the walk. No reason to not pinch run Hughes there. That was tying run.

Smith is not a short stop. Put him back at 3rd.

We saw that, too. Was Hughes getting loose still? All I could think of at the time was 2 outs and he was still on 1st. Although if Smith hits a double, does Reid score? Probably not as often as Hughes.

PM did it in the top of the 1st, in a scoreless game.

Sorry but your catholic high boy isn’t a short stop. Move his arse back to 3rd.

I never saw him play at catholic and not sure why that’s relevant. I did see him play games this fall. Saw his numbers last summer in collegiate league. He’s a SS. Period.

The balls he had the manager hit weren't ones similar to the error in the 1st, they were to recreate the play on the short hop grounder that he couldnt corral and make a good throw on the run. He lost control of the ball. The play wasn't ruled an error.

You are correct, forgot about that one, also dumb. I understand doing it down 5. Each successive run could not be afforded at that point.

I believe it was. He had two errors tonight. One was while charging.
