re: Should teachers/faculty be allowed to have a concealed weapon?

I was a marksmanship instructor in the Marine Corps and a CCP holder for years, and my principal would never allow me to carry on campus. No idea what other training I could go through to prepare me any more, but I would be willing to do it.
I also teach with others that share my sentiment, and I wouldn’t be ok with some of them doing the same. So yea, it’s a slippery slope for sure.

You think “training” teachers would ensure a thwarting of a mass shooting in the super rare occasion where they would be thrust into it? How do you know they wouldn’t be just adding stray bullets into the situation and pissing their pants? Again, how many teachers have you met who were amenable to being trained for using firearms to kill? The discussion as whole is ridiculous outside America.

You know you’re wrong. Arguing that arming teachers wouldn’t end these attacks is pointless. So, keep making derogatory comments. You’re doing well with that.
You honestly think milquetoast teachers having a handgun would stop one of these wackos with semi or full auto weapons from going on a rampage? I think at best it would alter their strategy...just spray the teacher first, then take out the students. The teachers are at such a disadvantage, even with the gun. The shooter knows when they're attacking, the teacher has no idea. It's always an ambush.

But what if we live in a world where every teacher is a trained sniper prepared to take out a shooter at any moment!?!?

frick no, it’s idiotic to arm teachers
Posted on 2/16/18 at 8:52 pm to WaltTeevens
I’m in the minority, but I would rather take my chances with a handgun vs a teenager with far less training than I have had, rather than not offer any resistance at all. Just my .02

Former military would be able to conceal carry. Easily.

Calm down, Yankee boy. Am I supposed to think most teachers are Rambo?

Should teachers/faculty be allowed to have a concealed weapon?
No. More school resource officers, basically deputies or city police, should be assigned to schools.

1. Do you think students/people would think twice knowing others were carrying on campus.
If they knew that they had a semi-automatic rifle on burst and teachers were armed with handguns and not suspecting an attack? No.
quote:
2. Do you think it would reduce the amount of casualties in school shootings.
It could. You have to keep in mind that not all teachers would want to carry a gun and others would be ill prepared to actually take aim at someone and pull the trigger.
quote:
3. Do you think that faculty would end up using the weapon
See above.
quote:
4. Could it be stolen and used by a student
Absolutely, if not secured properly. The same could be said outside of schools as well.

The idea of a knowing there’s an armed staff member, or undercover deputy, or many of them in the school changes everything. Schools are being attacked for this reason. It’s pretty obvious.

No but I can promise you that several teachers on a campus can handle a firearm, especially in the south. More people are capable than people want to admit

Well, a trained deputy I'm all for. frick, I'll pay more in taxes to have these people in every school, if it stops even one massacre. Are you down to pay more in taxes for this, as well?

Most of these shooters have planned their shootings knowing they’d end up dead. You don’t think they’d plan the event at least knowing who the possible thwarters were?

Why pay more? Why not just reassign some cop who would normally be writing speeding tickets?
They can work the school zone before school and write tickets, then walk the halls.
Or, cops could volunteer a few hours a day to do this duty. They don’t have to be paid.
But yeah, I’d pay another $10/year for a cop in each school. Or, better yet, the parents of kids in schools could pay for it.

Kewl that u found a totes good response, but it’s like you don’t know that most of these guys ended up dead via suicide/forced suicide.

This seems like a reliable statistic.
