It helps to have an 11.45 team ERA.
They may have been one of the worst teams in the country regardless of level last season. Delta St, LSUE, fricking Louisiana College was probably better than them.

Here is my Southern score update/commentary I posted on the Rant:

Southern is going to struggle this season, but I do like the Kerrick Jackson hire they made. Former Mizzou assistant under Tim Jamieson, former scout, and former agent. He's got a ton of connections that will help him recruit underrated kids from around the country to Southern the way Cador used to when Southern was the perennial SWAC standard bearer.

I have no idea how they meet D1 criteria. This is their home field
