Paying bills online- convenience fees

Convenience fees are completely unnecessary. $1 here. $3 there. It's not a lot but the principle of the matter is enough to piss me off.

Which companies have that? I don’t think any of the ones I use

I pay everything through my bank, USAA. I'm not aware of any convenience fees. If there are any, USAA must cover the charges.

I don't have many that do it these days but my kids lunch account at private school does. I can't complain TOO much b/c it's just over $1 on like a $50 deposit into their account and it goes to help the school pay for the application.
Now St Tammany's lunch account payment system don't charge shite b/c high prop taxes pay for that shite.

Yea Chase lets me move money to a Eagle Credit union savings account and pay a loan there with no fees from either institution.
But I think he means like paying a Bill to ATT, Macys, or a Best Buy bill. Some of those credit accounts I know charge fees from years ago when my ex was runnin shite up and I'd have to pay them.

DMV hits you with one. It is usually government sites that hit you with that nonsense. I can't think of a business that charges me a convenience fee and I pay all of my bills online.

Paying my water bill online has a charge because it is through Western Union. I think I could sign up for automatic debit but that would require me to go in and fill out paperwork. It is 2018 and you should be able to sign up for automatic everything online.

I pay everything through my bank so no fees. Also one place to do everything so it takes me minutes to set everything to pay out.
The only time I have gone through actual companies' online payment systems is if I somehow missed a bill and need it paid right away to avoid late fees or disconnection. Haven't had to do that since my first pregnancy which turned my brain to complete mush.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

City water, gas and sewage in Denham charges $1 for debits. I am not complaining because until last year I had to mail the bill in every month. So at least in freaking 2017 they offered online payment for the first time.
I imagine the conversation about how to allow people to pay online and then how to implement it among the good ole boys and gals of the City of Denham Springs public works was an amusing conversation to say the least.

Don’t autodraft with water bill. If you have a pipe bust underground unbeknownst to you, they’ll take thousands straight out of your account and not a damn thing you can do about it.

Government has to collect what is owed and can't absorb the convenience fee that's why they add it. An example is taxes. You owe $100 in taxes they have to collect the $100 and can't take $98 and the processor get the other $2. It's bull shite because they need less people to process the transaction so they should charge less.

Entergy, for one. Madisonville just added a convenience fee to pay online their utility bills too.
Granted, for Entergy I choose to pay with a credit card for the purpose of points. But still, there is no point in this day and age to have a convenience fee in order for me to pay them.

Never thought about that. I get an email containing my bill several weeks before they draft, so surely that would be time enough to stop the draft.

I hate companies that do that. Isn't it just as "convenient" for them too?
Some companies do the same thing if you print tickets to certain events. So they would rather me pick them up at the box office?![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

My water company does this if you do an automatic withdrawal. So I just get on each month and manually tell it to pay. I refuse to pay a "convenience" fee when I'm saving them money on paper and postage

Are you paying bills with a credit card? I have never seen this, unless using a credit card.
I see no reason for them to not do it when using a CC, since they are charging their fee. Passing it on.

Hell, they'll even charge you a fee for using a credit card in person

Podunk arse Pointe Coupee Electric is $3.50 and I have TWO accounts for my camp that they will not let me combine. So it costs me $7/month to pay online. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)
