The House Committee on Oversight and Government reform has launched an investigation into the White House’s handling of senior aide Rob Porter, who was not issued a permanent security clearance due to allegations of domestic abuse by his two ex-wives.

“Who knew what, when, and to what extent? Those are the questions that I think ought to be asked,” the committee’s chairman, GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, said Wednesday on CNN.

“And if you knew it in 2017 — and the [FBI] briefed [White House officials] three times, then how in the hell was he still employed? ... How do you have any job if you have credible allegations of domestic abuse?”

Maybe since he's retiring he feels free to do real oversight.

The House of Representatives spends more time incompetently investigating the hot topic du jour than it does on its core responsibilities.

Only thing worse than liberal virtue signaling is Republican virtue signaling.

So we no longer support innocent until proven guilty. All it takes to be unemployable are allegations? If he’s guilty of domestic abuse, convict him or, at the very least, investigate. I don’t want to live in a country where our government promotes guilty until proven innocent.

"Who
The Frick
Cares?"
Trey Gowdy cares, and he's in a position to get answers, which you can then ignore.
Republicans in general should care, if they hope to keep the votes of women, who (i expect) will sympathize more with the abused woman, than poor little Mr. Porter.

Good on Gowdy for caring.

What is the absolute worst result of this? I honestly don't know, but I doubt it's much.

Bill Clinton raped women. Do women still vote Dem? Yes? Then give me a break.

I used to think gowdy was the real deal, thought he actually cared. But not since the bengazhi and Hillary private server investigation. He talks a good game. He knows the song but can't dance. All hat and no cattle.

I love the left with the gleeful posts.

They don't understand how the right works. We apply the process to all people.

You see, NOBODY on the left ever called for or started an investigation into why Rhodes was denied security clearance but allowed to work.

It's call integrity.

This is why Gowdy has such a hard time getting approval.

How about opening up the books on the slush fund to cover up sexual misconduct by congressional members.

Is Gowdy's name in there?
