McDonalds, Burger king etc, prepares, bags and then hands you what you ordered. Is it appropriate to tip them too?

Are they paid based on tips or hourly?

That's precisely what is sort of annoying about the Outback conundrum.

I worked the curbside takeout at Outback when I was in high school in Slidell. We made $3.50/hour, so tips were a nice supplement to the shitty wage. Not everyone tipped - I'd say 75% or so of people did.

I never really had any expectation about what I should be tipped - we never expected 15% or 10%, etc. Literally tipping a dollar or a couple dollars was good enough for me. You're acknowledging your fat arse didn't have to leave your car and we prepared your order with all the calorie-laden condiments, butter, and bread your fat arse can eat. If I was stiffed, not the end of the world. But at the end of the day we really relied on them to supplement the wage and it is more of a service than places where you have to walk in and pick up and pay yourself. (Cue the "Well find a better job!" retorts - it was actually a good job most of the time as most people aren't so stingy that they can't leave a couple bucks)

With that said, this lady is a dumbass. If she's been doing that job for awhile she should know that churches don't really tip. I waited tables at Outback too and would routinely be left bullshite christian proselytizing cards with my 45 cent tip. Pastors don't tip - they just don't. They don't tip in Curbside Takeaway, and they don't tip (or tip very poorly) while eating in. It's just a fact of life. She should've known they would leave her nothing but "DO YOU KNOW IF YOU'RE GOING TO HEAVEN" card. The same is actually true for a lot of group orders. Slidell Memorial Hospital nurses never tipped and they always had the most complicated (relatively speaking) orders.
