It's incredibly short sighted. Sometimes people just want to do and see things that make them feel good, feel patriotic, or be appreciated.

Why do some have to be so cold and utilitarian about everything? Relax a little.

Say you just returned from Afghanistan and are just wanting to see your family.... nah you're now instructed to march for a day that takes up 4 days of your precious time to satisfy the President's ego. You'll get to see them for 2 weeks instead of 3 when you're deployed again.

If this was Obama doing this shite, the whole board would be flipping it's shite calling him a narcissist.

This is dumb. First of all, stop acting like the entire fricking armed forces are being forced to march 20 miles in 100 degree heat. Second of all, most military guys like the idea of being honored this way, and you know it. These guys march in parades like Macy's or at Mardi Gras frequently. It's not a big deal.

Bottom line is it can be a fun and unifying thing. People are bitching because frankly, it's low hanging fruit for board conservatives who want to appear edgy and non partisan. At the end of the day, you are melting about a goddam parade and it makes you sound like a gaping pussy.
