The Cloverfield Paradox spoiler thread

So are each of the movies supposed to be a different dimension based off this? And are we just going to be teased with alien monsters at the end of every movie? what the frick is going on haha

It really didn't answer any questions about the Cloverfield monster. Other than lip service to "hey, dimensional rips, and demons and monsters and shite."
The movie was a let down.
It really pissed me off when they went to uncouple the damaged section of the space station, and the commander was climbing across that beam like it was monkey bars. Bruh, there ain't no gravity in space - you can just float over.

I didn't think this movie was particularly good, and I didn't expect the movie TV board to think it was good either, but I did think it was something that this board would debate the shite out of.

It's bullshite what they are doing! Is it cheaper or easier to take other movie ideals and rework them to be Cloverfield movies? Just make original follow ups. Paradox was a shite show and seems like instead of answering questions they created more, due to making a non Cloverfield movie and prequel/sequel. The only reason Cloverfield Lane worked was cuz it felt like a separate movei in the same universe. Didn't try to hard to tie itself to the first one or answer questions. It is like Split is to The Unbreakable universe.

I really liked the chick from Memoirs of a Geisha's death scene. You thought she was going to drown in that water and then BOOM! Flash frozen.

A movie that debuted within two hours of its first ever trailer rose your expectations to a point it had zero chance of reaching.
Some people on here clearly expected some kind of sci-fi masterpiece which was never going to be the case.
It was fine for a Netflix movie. It was never going to be fantastic.

That was a big arse ship. Doesn't the space station simulate gravity? Is it reasonable to think that they could also? I have no clue. That's why I'm asking.

This movie had literally no plot.
You just go from frame to frame wondering wtf then the last frame of the movie is the Big arse Cloverfield monster.

I think I'm going to go ahead and subscribe to this theory that there is a Shepherd crew in each one of these dimensions attempting to fire off the super space laser or whatever the frick it was, and each Dimension keeps fricking the next Earth over.
One Shepherd crew caused the Cloverfield monster from the 08 film, another Shepherd crew brought the Alien Invasion Force at the end of 10 Cloverfield Lane, and so on.
Now I know that doesn't line up timeline wise, but other than this last film I don't know if any of them actually are clear as to what year it is. I believe those alternate reality games paint a better picture as to what year these films take place.

I think you are 100% correct.
Hence they paradox they all were chirping throughout the movie.
Each team had different members and different outcomes, with various outcomes essentially coming to "Earth 1."

Interesting thoughts, but I am not sure they are correct (or they could be...who knows, because the movie sure as hell didn't seem to ).
I watched this and finished it last night. It was okay. Decent plot, although I was confused as to the Cloverfield tie in until the last two seconds of the movie obviously. It wasn't greatly acted and was VERY overly cliche'd (to the point of eyerolls at some points).
That being said, I didn't hate it. I did have a couple of questions though...
Are we to assume this is a different universe/timeline/reality/dimension than the original Cloverfield film? I assume so since the monster at the end of this one was big enough to stand above the clouds, while the original film had him be small enough to disappear in the city and sneak up on people.
Also, if this was the same dimension/time in this movie as the original, are we to assume that the escape pod thing they went back to Earth in has something to do with the Easter egg splashdown thing at the end of the original film? I'm talking about this scene:
I assume not, especially since in the new one, right after the escape pod goes into the clouds, this happens:
..and in the original movie, that happens at the beginning of the film and the monster isn't really around yet.
All in all, I was pretty confused by this movie and how it played into the Cloverfield reality. The above theory seems like it could be a sound one though. Who the frick knows though.

Lol it was the best way I could corral all thoughts into some plausible scenario

They were outside of the centrifuge that creates the artificial gravity. They were outside of the ship. The movie is full of mistakes like this. Taken by themselves, its not a big deal, but put together and this movies is just kind of dumb.

3 different alternate realities/times/dimensions.
3 different Earths.
All caused by the rip in time/dimensions from the mishap in Paradox.

We don't know. What we do know is that J.J. Abrams said that Clover (the original monster) was a baby and that it was killed (apparently, ignore the "it's still alive" easter egg at the end of Cloverfield). Now, this obviously brought up the idea of where were mommy and daddy; so maybe that's one of them.

No. That is supposed to be a easter egg for the people who followed the ARG marketing campaign for Cloverfield.

The ChimpanzIII is the fallen satellite seen briefly at the end of Cloverfield.
Now will that remain canon? Who knows?

Spoiler: the movie was terrible

I like it for the simple fact they can do anything now and just say "every movie is a parallel universe, monsters show up because of time space frick up." No movie ever has to give us a reason now why the monsters are there, which has been question number one since the first.
Otherwise, yeah it sucked for being your basic semi-horror sci-fi space thriller. Though I loved the arm thing, it was funny as shite.

Best scene was the guy's hand telling them to look inside that other guy.

Wrong. They explained why it was like that.

Visually the movie was very surprising for a film not shown in theaters.
The conflict with the alternate universe crew member was intriguing but the twist at the end was a bit cliché.
Overall the movie was a decent popcorn flick but not one I plan to watch again anytime soon.
