I think we can conclude the following: Mirotic was not re-signing with Bulls after next season. Therefore, the Bulls knew that they had to extract value from him. And as each day passes, the value drops. So the Bulls took what they believed to be the best offer.
Therefore, I think the question is: Why wasn't there a better offer for Mirotic?
I sincerely hope the answer is the Bulls overvalue draft picks and believe our pick comes with sneaky upside (if we lose AD to an injury, we're screwed).
