Difference in finishes of shotguns

I've always had wood shotguns, but would like to get something more durable when getting wet and muddy. I'm about to pull the trigger (a little pun intended there) on a Beretta A300 Outlander, but not sure if it's worth paying extra for the camo vs the matte black. Is there a difference in these two, as far as rust resistance and durability?

I have a Benelli Super Vinci in camo and a benelli SBE2 in black.
No difference that I can tell. There is a spot on the bottom of the trigger guard on the Super Vinci and has the Camo wearing a little but you really have to look to see it. This is after a lot of hard use.

I have it in black and love it. Great value gun.

I have two shotguns, one in matte black and one in camo. Performance is the same but it sure is nice to throw the camo one around in the mud and hunt in the rain and not worry about rust. Cant do that with the black one. I'd suggest the camo if you can swing it.

What kind of finish is on it?
Most matte black finishes are pretty rust proof save for Remington...

My Son's a300 barrel began to rust after 2 seasons. I'll be the first to admit he is rough on it.
The barrel is at the shop right now getting a black cerakote finish applied.

This is exactly what I was looking to find out. It's dang near impossible to keep a gun mud free where we hunt.

Was it the matte black finish?

Yes the matte black finish. His gun is the a300 synthetic.

Both the camo and black synthetic will hold up the same, but the camo paint will fade or chip. I'd go with black synthetic. I have a wood stock A300 that I use when I know it isnt going to get wet, and I have a black synthetic Nova that I use in the rain, or if I'm going into the marsh.

Don't think black SBE's rust, if you get the camo I can say the darker patterns show wear more that the lighter camo patterns do.
