Spinoff: Bigger impact on kids, Reading Rainbow or Mr. Rogers

Rogers may be more well known across the generations, but for 80s kids, I don't know how Reading Rainbow was the more impactful show on children's learning.
Levar Burton easily rivals Fred Rogers as perhaps the greatest kids show hosts ever... 1980s PBS was incrdible

I never watched Reading Rainbow. I remember some kids with Bill Cosby I used to like.

None of these. Wishbone FTMFW.

I remember both shows did a story on how peanut butter was made... Reading Rainbows was way better....
But seriously, what did making peanut butter have anything to do with reading to children.

Both shows were about inspiring kids to want to learn.

Reading Rainbow was the bomb.
Bill Nye The Science Guy and Magic Schoolbus were also good

As a Star Trek fan, I always liked Reading Rainbow more.
But Mr. Rogers had a greater impact overall.

As a 90's kid it was definitely Bill Nye. But between those two I think I saw more of Mr. Rogers than Burton.

I will also add that LeVar Burton has a reading to adults podcast where he reads short fiction. Might be a good choice if you have a decent drive home after work.

Considering Mr Rogers Neighborhood was one of the first and most prominent shows aims at children on PBS basically paving the way for reading rainbow and others if its ilk
Id say it a no-brainer

I was born in 1980. I much preferred RR. Mr Rogers was boring.
Pinwheel was really my jam, though. And sometimes Today’s Special.

It
I totally agree. I'm 41 and grew up watching Mr.Rogers, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, 3,2,1 Contact. TV for kids today is crap.

I dunno, kids these days have a lot of options. Way more than we had.
