Are trump supporters now in favor of providing a path to citizenship without them having to go back first? That’s quite the proverbial flip-flop.

i have always supported a pathway, that consists of heavy fines, through the green card system for any of them who have not comitted any other crimes.

ITs not my deal to make. It’s the president’s. I will defer to him since he actually knows what’s going on and I don’t.

Most rational adults are able to give a little and come to compromises. This is not the edgy gotcha that you want it to be.

Provided that the bill includes border security and revoked chain and lottery migration, most of the right will support it. That’s not a flip flop at all. That’s coming to middle ground. It has always been about security and reform.

It was never about deporting all the brown people, despite what the media tells you the Republican viewpoint is.

Path of citizenship pre Immigration Act of 1965 would be tolerable.

Its the humane thing to de with the ones that were brought here as children and this is all they have ever known. They will probably all end up loving Trump and he knows this. All of this shite is going to backfire on democrats. The party os in shambles and Trump is the best president we have ever had.

If it is combined with an admission that we have a right to enforce immigration law by Democrats , build a wall/tighten things up and end chain migration, ease the citizenship over time - I’m willing to listen . Because I’m sympathetic to their plight , they are here already and it can establish a much more orderly and sensible immigration process in the future. We used to call such a radical idea a Compromise. Probably before your time.

Depends on the path, depends on what is given in exchange for the path.

To the Trumpkins on this board, which is a solid majority, yes, yes it very much is about “sending them all back.”

They apparently are.

Many of them also rebuked anybody who even said they should stay with no voting rights.

It's a Kerry-esque flip flop, multiplied many times over.

What in this deal is inconsistent with trumps campaign platform?

I seem to remember him committing to doing something for these people

Trumpkins will change positions whenever trump tells them to. Watching this flip flop play out will be glorious.

I am against a path to citizenship. Both sides have to give in some . If Trump can get the Wall fully funded , end chain immigration , get a merit based immigration and only give Dreamers that don’t live off the government a path to citizenship in 10 years then it will be a good deal .

Even if that were true, do you actually believe that the immigration platform of the entire Republican Party/conservative base was solely based on deportation?

You are a gullible idiot if so. Basing your perception on the conservative base on this website is just as stupid and shortsighted as the “Trumpkins” you are referencing.

The only thing I would be cool with is:

Cannot become citizens until after the wall is completed.

All family members have to go through the usual process. No exceptions.
