Really hope Detroit can win one of the final 2020 spots. They definitely have the financial backing with Gores, the Fords and Dan Gilbert.

Is Miami going to support an MLS team? I would assume yes, but all other sports there have poor attendance. Seems like soccer is the best fit though.

Once they begin to lose they will abandon the team in droves. Next to LA, they are worst fans of sports. Total front runners.

If the stadium is actually in Miami where they want it, in the heart of latin area it should be fine.

The Fusion played in Ft Lauderdale.

Wow. I’m surprised. Seemed like they were never gonna get that shitshow together, but I’m happy for Beckham after all he did to get the league really going. It’s the least they can do for him.

I’m skeptical about a team in Miami, but I’m not gonna judge them based on what happened to the Fusion. That was MLS 1.0 in Fort Lauderdale. This would be MLS 3.0 in Miami itself. We’ll see how it plays out. I think a Miami team could work if marketed correctly.

I just hope this doesn’t shut the door long-term for Cincinnati and Sacramento.

I would think a Miami team would attract a lot of stars world wide. Also Beckham’s connections would be a factor as well.

Yeah. I agree.

Beckham’s starpower and Miami’s appeal will make them a magnet for big players and could be great for the league.

If the Crew are moved, which seems like 95% certain at this point, I don’t think it’s good for the league to not have an Ohio team, so I would hope they’d let Cindy in to compensate in that market. We’ll see.

I think that’ll eventually end up happening with some sort of quasi pro-rel setup. The powers that be will fight it tooth and nail, but there is simply too much big market potential in this country for the pyramid to stay like it is now in the long-term. And that’s a good thing for American soccer.

USL may introduce pro/rel soon, but I don't think you'll see any changes with MLS anytime soon (I also don't think it's necessary at this point).

Some of the USL board members want to try pro/rel with USL and USL2.

That's what I was thinking... although baseball is popular in other countries and no one supports the Marlins, Id say soccer would be more of a draw.

Becks will go all in on star power.

Miami is a huge soccer hot bed of people who support Madrid and Barca, as well as a huge British ex pat community.
