After the brewery, we drove back to Portland via highway 6 to get a different view. It's a very nice drive along a river with several hiking spots on the way. Most were closed though through february

Even saw a double rainbow

Then we continued towards the Dalles, which we both kind of laughed at. Next time I'm in dallas i'm calling it the dallas

At this point we realized that neither of us had been to Washington state ever in our lives so we crossed the bridge over into Vancouver and stopped at a starbucks. Next to the starbucks we saw the weed shop that was in an old pizza hut

We took a lyft from our hotel by the airport to Northeast portland to hit up some breweries as recommended by our posters. The lyft car smelled like some dank bud and the guy lit up right before us, took some getting used to. First up was Great Notion, which had some great IPAs and a nice environment.

Beer is good, I agree

Next up was Mississippi Bar Bar which was another lyft ride away, but in a different type of neighborhood. The bar had a concert venue attached, but the show was sold out so we only stayed in the bar. We ordered a burger with tillamook cheese and it was very good

Lots of good porters and sours

After Mississippi, we headed across the street to a sushi place for another drink and dessert.

From there we went back to the hotel and peaced out early this morning. I have to say that the recommendations from here were excellent and definitely tailored to a good beer drinker. I wish I was there during a better weather period or hit up cannon beach when it was warm, unfortunately it is what it is. One thing I did notice during my time in Portland was that no one said thank you at the hotels, bars, or cab rides. It just stuck out to me and when I mentioned it to my friend he also agreed that it seemed strange. I would equate Portland to having an Austin vibe and while it's not personally my style, I'm glad I went to check it out. I think I need a beard, flanel, and the hoop earings before I can move there

Thank you to the locals who helped steer me in the right direction, I definitely enjoyed my quick visit to your area

We just took the same trip at the beginning of January and I have basically the same pictures. It's a pretty neat area.

Sucks that the weather was bad! There were all sorts of flowers and beautiful colors when we went in July. Tons of hydrangeas (sp?), sunflowers, lavender, etc.

And looks like you got the loser spot by the bathrooms at Great Notion . Fiancée and I got stuck there too because it was jam packed when we went. Felt so far from the action, haha. Can't wait to get back there in a few months for those IPAs.

I didn't have quite the same experience with my interactions there though. Actually found the people to much more polite than expected. Certainly better than the folks around Boston on my last vacation :lol. My conversations there went:

Me: Hey! How's it going?
Every Bostonian: Whadya want?
