Again, I ask. Why no rule change to a simple majority? it was done for Gorsuch, why not here so there would've been no shut down? Unless of course they WANTED it to happen.

There’s a huge difference between changing Senate rules for an appointment confirmation vs the enactment of laws.

I think the filibuster is stupid. If you win the majority you win the majority. Simple or super, by 1 or 10, it’s a majority.

They should change the rules, but McConnell is being a hardline bitch about it for some reason. No clue what his rationale is, but I’m sure his vagina has something to do with it.

Most likely, it wasn't a clean bill.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to stay convinced Republicans arent using soldiers as a political football, right?

Never mind that McConnell pledged last week to hold a vote on continuing to pay the military and could easily introduce his own to do so if he actually cared about the military and their families.

Pretty sure thatpaying the military was part of the CR that the overwhelming majority of Republicans voted for.

This is not a pick-and-choose cute little game. Nice try, but utter failure.

There better have been a very good reason for npt changing the rule. otherwise it looks like they allowed the shutdown so they coulf try throwing it on the democrats.

The nuclear option needs go go away and ever be heard from again, the reason a simple majority was never enough was to ensure government inaction on thorny issues, not to let things swing back and forth every time an election is held, if that's what you want move to England.

We have survived 100's of years, a civil war, and became the greatest power the world has ever known under the old rules. There is no reason to change them now just because crybabies can't get what they want immediately.

I agree that McConnell is a gigantic piece of crap, and this move further proves it, but the Dems forced the shutdown.
