Spoken like a person who didn't grow up watching in the 80s. Defense was a joke back then. No zone D allowed, hardly anyone could shoot 3s for shite, nearly all teams were pushing tempo, sports nutrition was in the dark ages compared to now, defenses have become far more complex, offensive spacing is light years better...
Sorry but physicality =/= tougher defense.

What a myth this has become among Millenials.
And yes, I watched the 1984 Finals. Prohibition on zone provided more defense as everyone was in everyone's face...not just standing around letting Steph Curry jack up 3's beyond the arc.
When Larry Bird shot a 3, there was Michael Cooper all up in his face even if Bird was 35 feet from the basket.
