None of us are sick in my family (yet), but my nephew was sick and we have the same pediatrician. He does not believe in giving out Tamiflu for kids and really believes it doesn't do a lot of good for adults compared to potential side effects.

However, I've heard other doctors give it out like candy. What's your experiences with tamiflu or your doctors?

We all had the vaccine (which I heard isn't effective this year), but I believe it's supposed to cause a milder case.

I've had the flu once that I can remember. Tamiflu did the trick for me. I was around 19/20

Tamiflu most of the time is given as peace of mind. Most of the time when someone comes in with symptoms it's really too late.

My wife had the flu at Christmas. After three days with tamiflu she was better. The only side effects were I had to deal with the kids while she laid in bed.

Edit: I meant Theraflu. That shite doesn't work

Safe and good to use for prevention. Not worth more than $10 to me if you actually have the flu. All it does is shorten it by about a day

I've never had the flu. I also don't hang out with incubators of disease, such as children and their parents.

I think it works pretty decent if you start taking it early, as others have said. Probably not worth it if you are three days in with flu symptoms.

It cost me $6 for generic.

Haven't had any side effects. Don't know anyone who has experienced side effects either

Take it like a man, you do not need Tamiflu.

Tamiflu is hype that came with bird flu.

A relative had a violent psychotic reaction from Tamiflu. It took 4 nurses to hold her down in the ER. After 24 hours she was fine, but it was scary while it lasted. I will not touch the stuff.

Side effects are more pronounced with kids. I came down with the flu last week, went to the doctor ASAP. Got a steroid shot and a round of Tamiflu. within a day I was feeling much better. I could have returned to work after 2 days, but decided to take an extra day to chill.

I had to take it this weekend. I woke up Saturday morning thinking I had a sinus infection and went the the doc in the box to appease the mrs. Turns out it was the flu and was prescribed the generic Tamiflu. Did not feel terribly bad Saturday but Sunday sucked. Monday I had no fever and was moving around normally. I cannot say that the Tamiflu helped or hurt but 1.5 days seems like a quick turnaround for feeling about 90%.

ETA: I did have some fricked up dreams on Saturday night, and Sunday morning I was living the lyrics of Comfortably Numb

Tamiflu destroyed my flu within two days when I had it. Took it on a Wednesday and felt good enough to go back to work on Friday.

Totally worth it.

And did someone say it was $6? I once was charged $120 for it, but that was outside of my insurance companies network. Inside, I'm not sure it was even $20

I have a few doctor friends including my own. They all think tami-flu is worthless and do not prescribe it.

I took tamiflu and had some crazy side effects with paranoia and minor hallucinations. Never again.
