What to expect from Ensminger's offense

ATVS has an in depth look at how Ensminger will design his offense. It shows Ensminger implemented empty sets during the Bama game and how the RPO will be used as well.

It's hard to pull quotes from the article without the graphics to get the concept, but it's a good look at possible things to come

In fact, here’s Ensminger running this motion to empty concept in 2016 against Alabama
What Ensminger is running to the two-receiver side is a what’s been referred to as a “weakside option” route. When Fournette motions to wide receiver and runs a go route, he’s taking away the corner who has to cover him deep. Now, the slot receiver works against the Will linebacker wherever the Will is, the slot runs away from him. In this particular play, Etling and Dural are just not on the same page.

Sooooo, zerO points per game?

We scored 0 points in the 2016 Bama game so anything referencing that game from an offensive standpoint isn't going to give me much optimism.

Zero points scored. It doesn't get any worse than that.

I get it. I expect that response. The empty set example was noted that the play worked in design because the WR got open, but was not complete due to execution/communication between the WR/QB.
The question is can a full offseason to implement the offense and get personnel squared away on their responsibilities make a difference. We'll see.

From article:

I saw SMU run a similar concept against TCU last year with future LSU hall of famer Trey Quinn:

y'all obviously dont remember it was more on execution than play calling. The plays were there it was execution of plays.
i see a number of you are still but hurt over the hire

It was one example of one play in a long article. Ranters have been asking what Ensminger plans to do offensively and I provided an article that discusses what we might see. I know expecting people to actually read the article was too much to ask.

Same is true of the Canada offense.
Did you guys support that the way you do this? By blaming the players?
New narrative with the Orgeron cult ...blame the players.
Didn’t see much of that the 11 years prior or with the Canada offense....why is that?

Everything he is saying sounds great. We need a strong run and passing game. He can pull styles from this years Bama, Georgia teams and Clemson's O in general.
The template is there.
I just hope he implements the concepts.

Read the piece you dipshits, the point wasn't to say the offense was good vs. Alabama in 2016. It was discussing larger philosophical ideas Ensminger may lean on, and that was ONE example among dozens of concepts discussed.

They are not here to read or learn about anything. They are here to bitch, moan, cry and put down anything to do with LSU football.
The more miserable they are the better entertainment it becomes for everyone else.

The offense will be more of the same I’m afraid.

I don't think anyone doubts that the offense was still not grasping the concepts when we fell apart in Starkville. That was blatantly obvious. Kind of why O wanted Canada to scale it back a bit. I don't necessarily blame Canada, the players or even O fully. Etling mentioned the WRs ran the wrong routes. Blocking was off. Was it too much too soon? Was it the players? You tell me.

Etling played like scared arse in the 16 Bama game. Missed several. Wide open throws on 3rd down. Sometimes it's not the scheme... It's the qb
Until we get a competent qb it doesn't matter what plays we run or who calls them.

I think its more what does Ensminger expect to get from his QB play. We are stacked with quality at WR and I think he will throw it as much as the QB's can handle. The RB's can catch out of the backfield and we have good experience at the TE position.
The Flying Tigers perhaps?

I see some of you are still not willing to address the elephant in the room. I’m good with Ensminger. What im not good with is O “researching “ and not interviewing. Im not good with the yellow liquid LSU (specifically O, DP, Alleva) is telling me is rain.

The bottom line is we can have the most exotic offense and if we don't execute the play properly it won't make a damn difference. That's not a knock on Canada or an endorsement of SE. Whatever Ensminger does he has to ensure the players execute the plays properly. This is why I like Sullivan despite his age. he's a very technical coach that will get the WRs to run crisp routes, proper hand placement and how to not give the route away with leans.
