No they aren't. Trust in the press has been trending upward as trust in the executive branch has been trending downward. LINK. Meanwhile, the approval rating for Trump specifically (in the 30's) is significantly lower than either.

States don't vote. People do. The geographic spread of people is such that 30 states may have gone for Trump, but we're talking about PEOPLE's attitudes toward Trump and the media, and Americans preferred Trump's opponent to the tune of 3 million more votes.

Trust in the media is trending up. Subscriptions to news papers like the New York Times and Washington Post have increased greatly. Trump's desire to undermine the press is shameful and corrupt, but thankfully, it's also failing miserably.
