Are the roads expected to be bad again tomorrow? The sun is absolutely melting everything even with temps still well below freezing. Some of the roads seem to not only be thawed but also dried. But I imagine the raised interstate areas and bridges are taking longer to thaw and dry. This is all new for us around here so I have no clue if it will be smooth sailing tomorrow or not.
Just drove a bit. If there's sun on it, it's fine. Drying out and safe. In the shade, it's still white and frozen. There are going to be roads that dont thaw out. Schools will likely be closed. LSU is a maybe but if expect em to be open. Maybe a late open (10 am ish).

LSU's problem is that campus is surrounded by roads covered by trees. It's icy as frick right now.

Right but LSU doesn't really care about that. I'm not saying it would be a good decision, but I expect them to make the bad decision every time.

For EBR, it will depend on if the interstate thaws out enough today. Any lingering moisture will freeze again when the sun goes down

I was wondering why they closed the school Tuesday AT 3 when it was supposed to be bad AT 3. What about the people that actually have to drive home and it takes 30+ minutes? Should have been closed after the 1:30 class to account for some error.

Damn - no way that's defrosting before sundown.

LSU officials continue to monitor weather. A decision about campus status tomorrow, Thursday, January 18 will be made at approximately 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, January 17.
