I do think it is a bit overboard, but I would have to think after being kicked out of the sorority and people all around campus would know who she is and what she did, she would have likely left from there anyway.

But she can still go to another school so it's not like she has been denied the opportunity to get her degree. I am not sure if this situation will follow her for the rest of her life, but I think she did more damage to herself than anything.
