hit em with history (Florida Auburn, Auburn again, and now Bama) and they still deny those are "spreads"
since so many offensive styles have merged over the years, the generic "spread" term leads to these issues
even Mike Leach runs the ball a good bit these days

Quick test for those who are “afraid” of the spread. Go look up the final Top 10 ranking in the past...say 3-4 years and identity a team that runs a traditional, 2 back offense. You’ll see that they are few and far between. This notion this the Spread is a “Gimmick Offense” is absolutely asinine.
My point is people fear what they don’t know so I suggest to the OP to step outta of that 1990s cocoon and do some research of how Offense are run in today’s College Football

Yep. These modern balanced offenses bear little resemblance to the old spread option, other than the fact that most of them lean heavily toward shotgun.
