Actually Sessions could reschedule cannabis. But he thinks "no good people smoke marijuana".

The Controlled Substances Act also provides for a rulemaking process by which the United States Attorney General can reschedule cannabis administratively.

It really is that simple.

I don't care who smokes weed but that law needs to be changed at the Federal level but I doubt it ever gets changed because it creates too much revenue for police departments and prisons.

Until Congress repeals the present laws, they should be enforced. Hold Congress' feet to the fire on this, not the AG.

Congress. the President or the AG can reschedule cannabis. All three have a method to do it.

So everyone realizes weed won't be legalized anytime soon because of big pharma's money influence over Washington right? Why else do you think the opioid epidemic has been down played so much.

I find it a little comical that people raise hell about legalization of weed but have no problem with their best bud fricking around on his wife. I guess it's about priorities of life.

Congress.

Didn't they slap the DEA back when they tried to make Kratom a schedule 1 couple years ago. The old congressmen in power still haven't let go of the reefer madness phase this country was in for awhile.

Trump should tweet that the AG is just doing his job: enforcing the law.

Then he should tell the American people if they disagree with the law, pressure your representatives in Congress to change it!

Cannabis could be rescheduled either legislatively, through Congress, or through the executive branch.

The Controlled Substances Act also provides for a rulemaking process by which the United States Attorney General can reschedule cannabis administratively.

So how is this on Sessions?

Sure he could look the other way but this is all on Congress and previous administrations that could have led the charge to change the laws.

He has a way in which he can reschedule drugs.

Sessions is Trump's greatest mistake

to be very seriously honest, i think that is why he is still there. trump has never been drunk or high. the product of a sheltered life. so he really believes the BS that its so very harmful and "dangerous", so trump wants a strong hard crackdown on pot, and sessions is one of the few still around that also believe weed is the devil.

I’d disapprove of Trump’s Presidency if the feds move to shut down marijuana dispensaries in states that have voted to legalize.

Would be the greatest domestic political blunder by a sitting President of our lifetimes.

Wickard v Filburn's controversial decision gives congress the power to regulate all commerce (even the refusal to participate in commerce lol). And nearly everything is considered commerce. See Gonzales v Raich.

Then why hasn't it been done?

The same reason we can't go to the grocery store and buy some sugar, fruit & yeast and combine those and make liquor for ourselves.

I honestly think sessions going after weed big time will force the exact change he doesn't want. Thankfully Sessions is a bumbling idiot. The vast majority of Americans want it legalized. The only thing he is going to do is put it at the front of the conversation instead of the back. Will of the American people will prevail sooner now.

The way the Dems jump on everything else Trump does, especially something they view as a sleight, I am a bit shocked we haven't heard more out of them on this issue yet.
