My Fiancee is a teacher at an elementary school in EBR. She makes around 42k. She wanted to go the private school route, but many jobs she was looking at were paying 28-30k.

Compared to other parishes in a public school, yes
Livingston surprised me considering they have some of the highest ranked schools. I expected them to pay their teachers more.

The Episcopal schools are very close if not equal to public schools salaries. It’s what they have to do to attract and keep the great teachers. They have stopped giving reduced/free tuition to children because it is unfair to those without school age children. They also have kick arse retirement plans and not that bankrupt state retirement bs. Work conditions are far superior and they get to teach kids who want to learn and kids from families that value education.
