With the state it’s a little different.

Most departments hire throughout the year as needed.

With state police, they hire a whole Academy class (40-50) once or twice a year....skipping some years. So they build up a applicant pool over 12-18 months and hire from that. So you get stuck waiting for them to hire a class.

Yea I’m familiar with the state. I graduated college in 13. Was flat out not told the complete truth by the recruiters for months. Made it all the way to the interview. It went well. Met with the captain of troop a. He was a flat out jerk. Said why would I hire you when I can hire someone that has a trooper to vouch for them. I told him
What the recruiters had been telling me and he flat out laughed. Wasted time. Although my life has worked out great, I have always been a little salty towards the state. Thank God I have a degree and it wasn’t in criminal justice. Haha
