Baton Rouge is pretty expensive, relative to what it offers. Factor in lake Charles' jacked up housing market as well.
Over half the state's population lives in those three metro areas. loLouisiana is overpriced.

BR is nuts. A 1br apartment in a decent part of town is around $1000/month. For $1300/month, I could get a 1br apartment 2 blocks from the beach in San Diego, CA.
BR’s real estate market is nuts, too, but looks sane compared to New Orleans.
