Will the 2020 Dem primary be a bloodbath like 2012 GOP primary?

If like 20 people run, it could get brutal

Isn't that something to worry about? Romney was hurt badly in general election by sharp attacks he received from Santorum and Gingrich.

Not really. Romney was definitely hurt by his treatment of the Ron Paul contingent. He drove a lot of young people out of the party with his people's heavy handed tactics towards Paul's delegates at state conventions and the national convention.

There was no attempt at offering concessions, no attempt at an olive branch, just a steam-rolling.

Just getting a few more of those voters in key states may have swung the election his way.

Romney's biggest problem was that after coming off strong in the first debate, he backed off and was "too nice" to attack Obama to the finish. He acted like he was scared of being called "mean" by a media who was already calling him a sociopath, misogynist, and a racist.

i dont think so, between romney and mccain as well as mcconnel and ryan all finally being honest and running as democrats, i think it will be a good race with them going against moochell obama, chelsea (mom hold my beer on corruption) clinton, shela jackson lee, pocahontas, and octopus hands raping joe biden

I posted this in the other who will be the Dem nominee in 2020 thread.

I think the biggest mistake that the Dems will make is that they have been so utterly bitch slapped by DJT that they have lost all sense of who they are and what they believe in. Obama bitch slapped the GOP after it nominated a ran a terrible candidate (McCain) whose only political ideology was "I should be President." Doesn't that sound like what happened to the Dems in 2016?

As a result of the foregoing, and ensuing panic the Democrats live in - they will nominate somebody milquetoast who they think won't offend anyone and who will appeal to the "Center" whatever the hell that is. I'm not sure whatever ideas that the the Democrats have left besides #Resist, SJW, and Socialism but they need to find them or they will lose because these ideas are polarizing and that can't be watered down by a vanilla candidate.

Romney lost the election because he didn't stake out his own ground, and either had no idea who he was - or failed to communicate it. Romney was running so that people would believe he was a Centrist and a nice person. Nobody gives a shite if you're nice. They don't want a best friend or a new husband. Romney would have won in 2012 if he had actually stood up for himself called Obama to the carpet in the second debate.

The Republican Party's treatment of Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012 was abysmal. I think the party has shifted more towards paleoconservatism since his campaigns, but I doubt he'll ever get credit for it outside of Lew Rockwell, Antiwar.com and the Von Mises Institute.

Waiting to see who ends up running and funding the dnc to be honest. They are having a bit of a issue right now. Shockingly unreported crazy right?

It’s simple
The base does not want amnesty
The base does not want daca
The base does not want Obamacare
We have been lied to over and over
The only bloodbath will be fake republicans being primaried

Who really cares what heathen Democrats want or do. Let’s get rid of amnesty minded McCain / Ryan / Rubio traitors.

I thought Romney winning 2012 was about the surest thing I'd ever seen in politics.

He choked, like a dog. Sad.

There was a period in 2011 when the economy remained awful that Obama was going to lose reelection according to polls

That was when occupy Wall Street was a thing

No. It might be contentious, sure, but the democratic primaries are always more substantive and less personal and petty than the republican primaries. Just rewatch the party debates from any given year over the past 20-ish years. Republican debates just keep getting louder and dumber. Democratic debates, even when there have been too many candidates, always contain a healthy amount of discussion of real issues.

Romney was hurt simply by having to appease the lunatic wing of the Republican party moreso than anything in particular Santorum or Gingrich said. And the simple fact is Obama was just such a popular and respected president that there was little chance any Republican would beat him. People were excited to get out and vote to reelect him. If Romney hadn't been forced to run away from his record on things like Romneycare, he'd have been able to make the election reasonably close, but he still wouldn't have been a longshot to pull out a victory.

What a hack you are.

I doubt you ever actually read up on both sides of key issues.
