Terrible idea. They basically have to forget his entire redemption arc in the original trilogy.

can't believe Disney is actually going to go through with this. They're actually going to make a backstory movie about two of the coolest, most iconic characters in cinematic history (which no one asked for) and recast the roles (which is ridiculously impossible).

Seriously what is the appeal for this movie? We didn't need the backstory, and behind the scenes they hired a kid who can't act, fired the director, brought in an acting coach, persuaded Ron Howard to try to fix the mess in post, etc... There's almost no way this movie turns out well.

As for Donald Glover, I guess that's a view of our society today. Billy Dee Williams was a smooth suave ladies man. Donald Glover looks like he wears flannel pajamas while he sips on his soy milk Chai tea latte.

It should be pretty clear to everyone after TLJ that Disney for whatever reason is hell bent on systematically destroying the entire Star Wars universe and now they're going to retcon everything we loved about it out of existence

I don’t think it’s possible for some people to post anything here about anything Star Wars or DCU or MCU without taking the negative side.

Man I just don’t buy either the dude playing Han or Glover as even remotely badass enough to play Solo or Lando. I really like Glover in a lot of his roles as well.

Now from the studio nobody likes, comes a movie nobody wanted about two timeless characters who nobody wants to see ruined.

You realize that if a studio makes that movie now we will all blame you for putting the idea in their head right?

As for the Han Solo flick... it might turn out to be a decent movie but right now everything, and I do mean everything, I've heard about it screams complete disaster. Rewriting the story and reshooting as much of the movie as possible in post production and the lead actor can't act... This has the stench of death about it.

If Ron Howard salvages a watchable movie from this mess give that man an Oscar. Hell, give him a lifetime achievement award on the spot.

The film will be set before Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) and will be about Han Solo in his early years. In Han Solo's backstory, Solo was raised by space gypsies and he never knew who his family was.

I don't want them to ruin both of these characters and all of their backstory, but they will. I hope they at least do the Kessel Run right. Because if they make it a pod racing scene that he wins by being the fastest I'm going to kill someone. It's not speed. It's the risks he took flying extremely close to objects or going in and out of light speed or passing undetected right past imperial ships to cut down on distance. He took the road less traveled. In essence, he flew super close to imperial ships and dangerous objects instead of going the longer safer route because he was a badass shifty smuggler.

But i have no faith in this movie. They're going to turn Han into the misunderstood rebel with a heart of gold, which would invalidate his entire character arc in the OT.
