Gradually I’ve warmed to the idea that Orgeron’s 2018 class is underrated. It is very evident in the defensive linemen. I’m going to assume that Chasen Hinds is an offensive guard. That’s his money position.

Davin Cotton - this is the highest rated of the bunch, but definitely not the best. In fact, I would rank him last of our 4 dline recruits. He is very active and athletic, but at 260 pounds he will have to develop to be a big contributor. Probably overrated by the services. Could be a Lewis Neal type for us.

Dare Rosenthal - this guy has the most upside. I would not be surprised to see him starting in the NFL one day. He is giant, at 6’-7” and 320, lean and rangy. He runs well, too. Unfortunately, his stance and technique looks like my wife coached him. Everyone in America wanted this guy. He probably won’t contribute next year due to a major overhaul of his technique, but he’ll be a great one. Only rated as a low 4 star. He should be waaayy higher.

Nelson Jenkins - if one linemen is going to contribute next year it’s this guy. He looks SEC ready. Only a 3 star. I can’t imagine what the evaluators were looking at. There is nothing obvious missing in his game. His technique and hustle are good and his athleticism is great. I hate this comparison, because they’re from the same school, but he is another Davon Godchaux. Bama wanted this guy. Thankfully he signed with the good guys.

Dominic Livingston - this is the nose guard of the bunch. He looks great, another Ed Alexander. He could provide emergency depth next year if he had to, but with Ed and Shelvin he should have the luxury of a year to develop and acclimate. A low 3 star according to the services, and his offer list seems to bear them out. Maybe I’m wrong, but he looks like a solid 4 star to me.

Three of the four are criminally underrated. Oddly enough, the only one I don’t feel super confidant of is the highest rated, and that’s only because of his size.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that every guy is a warrior who plays with a mean streak. It will take a couple of years, but when these four come into their own they should dominate.

Isn’t it the feeling that Rosenthal ends up at LT. His measurables just scream LT.

ETA: meant Dare not Livingston

Time will tell just like any recruiting class. I'm sure there will be a bust or two just like there will be some diamonds discovered. The offer list of each player is usually a good indicator of the type of player you are getting but I realize that isn't the case all the time.

Rosenthal will be a OT. Hines wanted to switch to defense. Hines will be told where he will benefit the best.

Hines wants to play defensive line. Texas offered him at that position so LSU followed to make sure they received his signature.

Hines coming to play DT.
Jenkins going to be a jam up DE in 3-4. could also play DT at times.
Rosenthal is a monster athletically. could be successful on either side of the ball.
You are very wrong about Davin Cotton. O actually mentioned him first when talking about DL. He has great motor, very strong upper body and quick feet. He can make plays anywhere on Dline.
Only thing you got right was Livingston. Livingston very similar to ED Alexander.

Lol. IMO Davin Cotton is the best of the ones you listed. I don't know about the Lewis Neal comparison outside of height. I think it isn't a good comparison at all tbh.

Nelson Jenkins is good but Godchaux is in the damn NFL. He played a massive role his true freshman year in 2014. I don't know if Nelson will do that. And if he does, we may be in trouble with injuries again. Godchaux was also a top 150 player. Nelson is good but he wasn't as good coming out of HS.

Livingston is another Ed Alexander? Maybe based on size but we haven't seen Livingston at this level yet to say such a thing. I think he will be good, don't get me wrong, but I think Ed Alexander will be a top 5 NG in the nation this year.

Rosenthal is not as good at DT as he is at OT. His ranking and evaluations reflect that.

You’re right. I’m assuming, like Devin White, he ends up where he’s best. He could be a good nose guard, but his highlights and body type scream offensive guard.

Cotton has the frame to add weight like Bennie Logan did. Lewis Neal was leaner & didn’t really have that body type.

He's Carl Lawson 2.0 and would of been ranked much higher if he doesn't get injured at the beginning of his senior season.

He could be. He has the rangy build that is coveted at tackle. He’s a great athlete who could excel at either position. He’d be like a heavier version of Marguise Hill at DE.

I don’t know if you realize this, but the number of stars is just a low resolution system for people who are not very interested. Livingston is rated 0.8797. A 0.9800 is also a 4 star, but is a waaayy higher rating.

Wow, you made a decision to be a dick today? What makes you want to be that way? Home life? Wife/gf running around on you? Sorry, man.

There are people on here that will go to the mat with you that he should be an offensive tackle because they think he is too big. I disagree with that and in fact he is essentially the same size as the best DT LSU has produced in the last 10 yrs... Michael Brockers. Nuf said
