Duck ID thread. Lots of peeps don't know ducks from dogs!

How many ring necks in these pics?

Ringnecks have black white and blue on their bills, and a maroon ring around their neck if you hold it right in the light. Scaup have blue bills and no ring around the neck.
The bottom pic has a mix of both species but more scaup than ring necks.
Final answer.
Eta: We always called them all "black jacks", but this board informed me years ago that that was wrong.

Only ducks I can pick out of a line up would be a green head and a wood duck.
But for those in the pic... I don't see any ring necks, just dead ducks from lead or steel shot.

That first picture sucks. I can't tell what I'm looking at.
I see a shitload of ducks I wouldn't shoot myself, that's for sure. I want nothing to do with ring-necks.

Had a few thousand, uh, ducks about 15 feet away from my layout blind. There are some ringnecks somewhere in there

Haha, man, I haven't hunted ducks seriously in a few years now. Don't have any good areas close by. Used to hunt Maurepas for woodies and Big Branch for other big ducks.

The ring necks have that distinct bill color.

Scaup are very pretty IMO. Ring-necked ducks are definitely the red-headed stepchild of all ducks. They're ugly AF and hard to gut.
Divers are pretty easy to distinguish IMO. I can just tell by how they flap their wings and the speed at which they do so. We normally let them fly by and wait for something else. That being said, if there ain't shite else flying, their motors are getting cut off. I shoot to eat. Hate not coming home with meat.
