It’s not breaking news if they are holding onto it. No real journalist does that.
“Breaking news regarding a development that could topple the government and change your life as you know it! We’ll tell you about it in the third hour of our show!”
Really ask yourself.. does that make any sense to you?

That reminds me of a George Carlin routine. He's reading the evening news and he says something like, "The Soviet Union has launched multiple nuclear-tipped ICBMs. We'll have full details after a word from our sponsors."
