Some jackass (dui) totaled my wife’s RDX while it was parked and I need to find her something.

She seems to like the 2018 Tiguan, but I have no experience with the dealership or VWs for that matter. I’ve read enough and they have a better warranty now, so I think I’d be okay with getting one. Just not sure if they are a worth a shite dealership. Do they negotiate at all?

I want her to get another RDX, but she said she “liked it” but “didn’t love it”.

She doesn’t really like anything else other than the RDX (kinda apparently) and the Subaru Forrester. Not sure how the Forrester fits in, but whatever I’m okay with that one too.

I know there are higher rated SUVs, but she has already driven most of them along Airline hwy when we got the RDX 8 months ago. So, these are what she is leaning towards.

Ideas?

Since I am a recent convert... GX 460.

Southpoint was good to us when we had a lease through them but the Fabre group has the Subaru dealership and I really like them a lot. I think I would take something from Fabre group over anything from Southpoint VW.

Subaru Forrester

If you keep a car for 5-10 years get the Subaru. If she want's a new car every 3-4 years let her decide.

I had a TDI Passst that got purchased back. Just before it got purchased back I needed a new water pump, the service manger wanted to replace the timing belt and a bunch of other stuff that I didn't need done, including the timing belt, because it had been done 20k miles prior. My options to get repair work done in town were limited and I had to raise hell to get them to consent to replace only the water pump including calls to corporate. The car was purchased back by VW a couple of months later. What they wanted to do would have been a waste of money.

Never again.

I bought my wife an Atlas there about a month ago. Super easy to deal with. I negotiated the price via text messaging with the salesman for about 3 days, they even gave us a trade in quote by text pictures and the vin#. After price was agreed on they had to get it out of Dallas, they waived the transfer fee. Wife went there and test drove it at 2. I went up there after around 5:30 and signed paperwork. I was out the dealership in 30 minutes. They never even drove the trade in and honored the quote.6 year 72k warranty is nice.
