An OTC herbal remedy and supplement that is supposed to help support good mood, fight anxiety, and depression.
Have any of you taken this supplement? Thoughts on it? Pros and cons?

It's bogus like any other herbal remedy. But if it tricks your mind into believing it's doing something then it can be effective.

The majority of our pharmaceutical drugs come from botanical sources, so I'm not sure how you could make such a definitive statement.

Used it years ago to fight the Seattle freeze and it seemed to help.

Evidence is light but it does affect your livers ability to metablize certain drugs so check with your doc if you are on anything right now.
I recommend against it because:
1) there’s a good chance what you buy isn’t what the label says it is
2) slim chance it works at all
3) “herbal” stuff is usually only good for hurting kidneys.
If you want something tried and true, talk to your doc about lexapro or something like that. Probably same price with insurance and you know what it is/does

I haven't tried it but it's supposed to have a similar mechanism of action as MAOIs, which doctors rarely prescribe anymore but are by far the best medications for anxiety and depression.

I use it as a ground cover. Keeps my beds calm.

Tried it. It did absolutely nothing for me.

Don’t drink on it. It’ll frick your liver up worse...

I tried it, in conjunction with like 3 other "natural" anxiety remedies like 5 HTTP, etc.
Nothing works.

Someone’s gonna tell you that you’re a puppet of big pharma for not pushing unproven alternative medicine that interacts with other drugs.

With the first part but not the anto-depressants part.

Xanax or Klonipin
Or good weed
Nothing else helps or matters!

I understand what you mean but he did ask about some medicinal treatment and so I mentioned one of the most proven and safest things i could think of.
Agree though I dont think the first thing he should go for is meds but i couldnt there Lifestyle modification is too much to go on about here.

Be very careful with this stuff. I tried it once for no particular reason and it made me loopy as hell. I got home from work and just laid on the sofa all night waiting for it to wear off. It took about a day.
