that’s one of the worst candidates I’ve ever seen run for public office. I don’t pretend that dems winning is a referendum on anything than Moore being truly terrible.
two years maximum for Jones.
and Alabama, nominate better candidates. Jesus. it doesn’t have to be red vs blue.

There are some upset house repubs, but I can assure you, ZERO senators are losing sleep tonight. In fact, they are glad they don't have to go through a media shite storm regarding the controversy over seating him.

Can we at least come to consensus now that the red laundry lost that that guy is fricking awful?
christ. His campaign head didn’t even know that it wasn’t the law that you had to swear on a bible to be sworn in.

I'm just glad this shite is over.
Now the media will get back to bashing Trump and more unproven #metoo claims.
Ready to unplug and go camping.

Republicans in Alabama selected him via primary. He was the best according to your ilk.
The melt is awesome though.

Are you willing to bet on that? If so let me know how much.

I just don’t think Alabama is blue. demographics don’t support it.

What did you expect him to do after Moore won the primary, support Jones and the obstruction of his agenda?

You made a mistake in your statement, one that almost certainly would guarantee I would win the "bet" if you choose to make it.

Losing a Senate seat, even temporarily, in such an environment is pretty bad in the short run.
I think in the long run Moore losing was probably a blessing in disguise. The guy was absolutely toxic in terms of mainstream politics.

My whole mindset with this thing was basically the same as JBE. Everyone was going to overreact either way (see liberals on this board now), but truthfully there were no good outcomes for anyone. - Dems or Reps. Democrats were going to howl victory in the media regardless, and they'll lose the seat before they even realize what happened. Republicans either lose the seat for 2 years or get stuck with a senator that draws nothing but headaches. At least this way, Franken might actually leave. Having a better R than Moore would be a win longer term. Bama should just run a female and dare the east coast liberals to come after her.
The idea that this was a referendum on trump is laughable, so I'm really ambivalent about the whole thing. Plus I don't live in Alabama so there's that.
The part of all of this that I really lament is the absolute character assassination leveled on Moore. Do I believe he dated younger girls in his early 30's? Yes. This wasn't uncommon back then. Do I believe he molested a 14 year old? No. I'd like to believe that our parties are better than this, but after this and the fusion gps scandal, I fear we may never go back. It's clear; if you run for a seat that Dems really want, they will invent a lie about you and use it to fricking destroy your life and your family's lives. And they won't think twice about it.
This, for me, was bigger than any single seat or candidate.

Wow, I must have missed that, but even given that stunning news please explain how Jones only has 2 years max.

People keep saying 2 but it's technically 3. Guess people are assuming this was midterms or something.
Posted on 12/13/17 at 2:29 am to Obtuse1
Dude, stop. Doug Jones is not getting re elected.
