I like how you just assume oh yea it didnt matter because we would have converted anyway. How convenient

quote:

Penalty #3: 3rd and 11 - this is the roughing the passer play. Big play on touchdown drive.

On this TD drive, the Falcons had 1st and 15 from a false start and converted without penalty. They also converted a 2nd and 20 (without penalty help) after being called for illegal block. The Falcons managed to overcome 2 penalties on this drive to help in scoring a TD.

You conveniently left out that the Saints would have gotten the ball back if not for the bullshite roughing the passer

That's 8 plays giving the Falcons a first down. I heard there was 9, but I must have missed it when I skimmed the espn play-by-play.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest, penalties of the game. This was when I knew the fix was in

Our coach getting flagged to seal the game.

I didn't assume anything. I said that they had legitimate chances to get 1st downs without the penalties.

I didn't leave out anything. I said that it was 3rd and 11 before the penalty. I would hope that anyone with a brain can infer that this means the Falcons would have given up the ball without it. I also said that it was a huge play on the TD drive. What more do you want?

Without the flag, it would have been 3rd down after the fumble (3rd and 6). There was 1:05 or something left and NO had to use their 3rd timeout anyways. Let's say the Falcons take a knee (which they wouldn't). They could run off approximately 39 seconds or so and would probably call a timeout. That puts the clock at :26. The punt would probably take a good 6 seconds off the clock and put the ball at the 25 yard line for the Saints. Maybe they drive the ball 40 yards with no timeouts to get in FG range and make a 50+ yard kick to send the game into overtime. Those are all big assumptions to make. I think it's just as likely that the Falcons convert the 3rd and 6 and run the clock out anyways.

I made a pretty rationale post in response to the narrative that the Falcons were handed 9 first downs. I didn't say anything about the result of the game, the legitimacy of the penalties, etc. You chose to respond with ridiculous accusations.
