Cold water man...boiling might crack windshield. Defrost high

Dude, he asked for fastest. Not safest.

I use a pitcher of warm water and pour it on all affected windows. Go get another if I need to repeat. Works great for me. Turn windshield wipers on for 3-4 swipes only and head on down the road.

Or just start your car 10 minutes early and turn the defrost on full blast.

what a dumbass. Lucky you didn't crack your windshield

Run your hose water on it you fricking moron. Anything above 32 degrees will melt something frozen.
And, stop being poor and get a garage

Turn car on and blast defrost. It will help loosen the ice. The scrap with a credit card, preferably one you don’t use

ice scrapers or anything that pushes snow around.
your arm even works. i can't tell you how many days i was late to school because i was slinging and smashing snow off my car's windshield.
my brother and i might be the only people in louisiana with ice scrapers that our mother had installed into our cars alongside our "trapped in the mountains" survival kits.

Yeah, no.
But I've used lukewarm water at least 100 times, no problem.

You are SO unappreciative of your Mother's efforts.

Defrost running from the inside while scraping with a plastic spatula.

i'm just saying that we don't need our survival kits anymore. i think she checks our trunks every time she comes to visit.

Pour diesel all over your windshield before it snows. It will either slide right off or you can light the diesel. It won’t hurt your windshield cause diesel doesn’t get hit enough to burn glass.

Since no one down south has this...
For a very basic homemade window de-icer, combine one part water to two parts isopropyl alcohol (i.e. rubbing alcohol)!
For a slightly better solution that gets better results, combine water, rubbing alcohol (about 50%) and just a few drops of liquid dish soap

boone is a little rural for us.
but you're in the right area.
eta: my brother was laughing at how slow people were driving even in the neighborhoods. we're like, "HEY MA! GRAB THE CHAINS! i'm going to soccer practice!"

Have friends and relatives in the north that have been clearing there windshields with hot water my entire life, never heard of any glass being damaged.

I admit when I was culture shocked and had to live up North. I used water from the kitchen sink as hot as it could get and it worked. (I don't think boiled water would be wise)

Last time there was a hard freeze in BR a few years ago I personally witnessed old neighbors completely frick their windshield up with huge cracks and shattering by pouring hot (boiling) water on their windshield. Doing a Google search seems to have conflicting information, but I'm going to go with what I personally saw happen.
