Bucky Brooks: Baker Mayfield reminds me of Drew Brees

NFL comparison: Drew Brees
Listed at 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, Mayfield, like Brees, lacks the prototypical dimensions evaluators typically look for in QB1s, but Mayfield's electric game has prompted some to ignore those standards.
He's a pinpoint passer with outstanding timing and anticipation. Mayfield is one of the best "catch-and-fire" tossers that I've ever seen, exhibiting a quick release and versatile delivery that allows him to work around defenders in his throwing lane. Mayfield's unique delivery allows him to play among trees in the pocket, which is critical for a short QB1 in the league.
Mayfield is a disciplined and refined pocket passer. He fully exhausts all of the options in a play, which allows him to occasionally create big plays in the passing game when he targets the third or fourth option in the progression. Although he will drift and float in the pocket while waiting for his designated receivers to come open, Mayfield's consistency as a passer will lead some evaluators to ignore his occasional "happy" feet.
Overall, Mayfield is an intriguing prospect with a game that suits plenty of offenses in the NFL. He isn't a prototypical QB1, but his production and performance could make him a long-term starter in the right situation.

Well, they're both short.
Look, I don't think he is gonna be Brees with wheels, but I also don't think he is gonna flame out like Johnny. I see a more productive Doug Flutie type or poor man's Russell Wilson. That should at least earn him a clipboard and/or a decent amount of starts.

His arm is very good, but his mobility could be the thing that makes him worth a high pick. Air raid stats are fool's gold.
BXII receivers run wide open against mostly non-press, try to make you kick field goal defenses. Even with the combine, it's impossible to judge if he can drop it into NFL windows.
If the light doesn't come on for him at first, he might be able to run for his life until it does.

Lol no. As a Falcons fan, I have way more respect for Drew Brees. Baker Mayfield is a Johnny Manziel wannabe

You have more respect for one of the best quarterbacks of all time than a guy who hasn’t played an nfl game in his life? Well I’ll be damned.

He'd throw way less interceptions than Brees

Future HoF, SB champion and modeled citizen off the field = guy who grabs his crotch, gets in trouble with police? But they’re both white so there’s that.

Do your homework, you idiot.

I'd love to see the saints draft him to study under Brees a couple years and then take the reigns.

Yep they're both short and white but that's where it stops. That douche will never be Brees...It's an insult to even compare Mayfield to a HOFer

You should try comparing his college resume with all of the HOF QBs college resumes and seeing how they stack up.

I would bet the collegiate numbers between Brees & Mayfield are very close since Brees played in a similar offense under Joe Tiller at Purdue. Just like Mayfield, Brees wasn't heavily recruited out of high school either. The similarities are a lot closer than most would like to admit. We have seen how Brees turn out in the NFL yet the book is still wide open on Mayfield.

He ll make the college hall of fame...But he doesn't have the character or maturity to lead a NFL team. If deshaun Watson had acted the way BM does he would have been called every name in the book .
