I agree that Miles offensive philosophy held us back, both on the field and in recruiting QBs.
But another factor is that football is a team sport. Several NFL caliber players can only do so much, especially against Bama, that has similar talent plus a Qb. We came close several times, but no cigars.

The lack of Qb play and to compound the problem miles by formation, and play calling caused defense to cheat, and stack more numbers in the box then we could block.
That's why we struggled with weaker teams, and when we played superior teams like bama, we never had a chance, with the exception of a couple of games.

You’re right but just seems like with the QBs he was bringing in why not substitute the option for the short passing game. Instead of making Jefferson or Harris learn pro type reads drops and route trees, keep the play action package and shot plays but use their legs to convert 3rd and short to mid range plays. Morris Watts did this beautifully with Herb Tyler and less personal under Dinardo. What’s even more crazy is Miles was forced to do it in 2011 out of necessity at Bama with Jefferson and it worked.
