I don't know what model we have... but I had to deal with this last night. The detectors are all hard wired in electrically and to the alarm system, but they also each have a backup battery (9 volt) in them. I replaced the backup battery and all is well.
What was weird was... it wasn't chirping at a constant rate. It would chirp, then wait 30 seconds, then chirp, then wait 10 minutes then chirp, then wait 5 minutes then chirp, then chirp every 5 seconds for a minute, etc.
When I took it down to replace battery some dust did fall out.

It's also a carbon monoxide detector and you are about to die.

Just for smoke or does it detect radon, etc?

Throw it in a fire to show it who’s boss.
