What animal has two thumbs and is already starting to get fired up for the 2018 season?

Dear Petey B:
Thanks for reaching out to m, partner. I hope your thanksgiving went well. Getting geared up for Christmas? Hey, look man, I know that it's tough coming up with story ideas around this time, it being the tennis offseason at all, so what you might wanna consider doing is writing an article that discusses some potential rule changes. No big deal if all the rule changes you mention are basically just solutions in search of a problem, just roll with it. And then when you're done with that, sprinkle in a dozen or so references to how all of this can be blamed on millenials.

Don't worry so much about finding a good, tight nexus between the rule change parts and the millenial reference sprinklings. Let your readers connect those dots. They've got 5 or 6 weeks to work on it.

https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2016/10/tennis-changes-chris-kermode-peter-bodo-millenials-tennis-scoring/61609/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+tennisworld-bodo+%28Peter+Bodo%27s+TennisWorld%29

Stated differently: the above article is a waste of perfectly good electrons, and this is true even though electrons are pretty much readily available and not likely be become scarce in the next 6 billion or so years. No, seriously, Peter, that article written by 11 year old grandson, right?

Okay, I'll stop. The let cords idea I can get on board with. The rest are classic solutions in search of problems.

But at least it gave me an excuse to start this thread.

Miami Open might move to Hard Rock Stadium because Miami-Dade county wants too much of dat tennis money.

I, for one, absolutely wanna see tennis in a football stadium.

He surely will. But will Andre the Giant be coming along for the ride?

I need to try to make an appearance at the non-boojy leg of the sunshine double. Forget a bunch of Larry Ellison. I"ll take the spanish chicks instead.

The Great Great
The Great Smug
Chilly

I did not cheat. But I'm pretty sure I didn't get it right, either.

You don't win your four person fantasy tennis league without knowing a thing or two.

You had me scared for a second. I had to check the rankings. Luckily we are still another 10+ injuries away from that actually happening.

Will it be the year of the Shapov?

Depends how you define that. Will he win a slam? I would have to say no. He hasn’t shown enough consistency up to this point, and without a decent seed, the road to the final is too tough.

He could still have a great year, though. I’m definitely looking forward to more of that lefty one-hand backhand porn.

Current odds to finish #1 at the end of 2018...

Rafael Nadal +200
Novak Djokovic +300
Roger Federer +400
Andy Murray +550
Alexander Zverev +1200
Grigor Dimitrov +2000
Dominic Thiem +2500
Stanislas Wawrinka +2500
Juan Martin Del Potro +2800

I agree with Rafa being the favorite. Too many question marks for the rest of the big 3, and he basically has a French Open title in his pocket before the year even starts.

I’ve said before that I don’t like to have my money tied up for a year, but if I were to bet on this, Dimitrov at 20/1 seems crazy to me. He made incredible strides this year, and he’s still only 26 years old. He’s also probably the most likely player on that list to stay healthy.
