All this BS about tax cuts hurting middle and low class.. Lets just revisit the nightmare that we are all living with that is the Affordable Care Act.
While advocates and politicians have cited numerous examples of people facing huge premium increases, ACA advocates have been able to respond that those are cherry-picked cases, or that premiums were increasing before the ACA and would have increased anyway.
Those responses are no longer plausible. It turns out that across the board, for all ages and family sizes, for HMO, PPO, and POS plans, premium increases averaged about 60 percent from 2013, the last year before ACA reforms took effect, to 2017. In same length of time preceding that, all groups experienced premium increases of less than 10 percent, and most age groups actually experienced premium decreases, on average.

Millions of people were FORCED to buy healthcare against their will. Liberals on this board praised this.. So spare me your righteous concern about tax cuts..

And the intelligent ones, sorry Dems, you're excluded, on this board warned us about this.

My premiums (self-employed, family of 4) have gone from $9k per year pre-Obama (for a very good low deductible plan at BCBS) to over $18k for the same plan. Obama and the lefties can go frick themselves with a chainsaw.

So you are fine with the tax cuts because the president that represented your party's opposition squeezed money out of us prior to Trump?
How fricking stupid are you? "I don't want to hear shite about us getting fricked because Obama fricked us first with healthcare!"
I mean politicians don't even have to try to be competent with idiots like you voting.

Hard working American taxpayers are forced to subsidize the coverage for others while incurring huge increases in their own premiums and having their co-payments and deductibles doubled. It was the Democrats who passed the law and are responsible for the bungled implementation.
Most people with Obamacare policies are unable to access their coverage due to prohibitive deductibles and co - payments. The Affordable Care Act was nothing more than a huge transference of wealth. It is amazing that a benefit which was previously provided by employers on a voluntary basis has now been placed under governmental control, forcing certain employers to provide the benefits or be fined, while telling them how the benefits are to be paid, how much they must pay, what is covered and deciding which of their employees lifestyles are to be subsidized by other employees.
In addition we were also being forced to subsidize health insurers through reimbursement corridors and subsidies when they were required to discard actuarial prognostications to assume any all risks with the knowledge that if their profits dropped accordingly the taxpayers would make up the difference. Now the courts have finally reigned in this assault on our constitution by the Obama administration by ruling these subsidies can only be paid when authorized by Congress. Congress has refused to allocate the funding and the carriers have elected to abandon this sinking vessel.
Yes, the " uninsured rate " may have dropped . Much of this is due to the mandate to purchase ( the first time in the history of this country the populace is forced to purchase a product just for existing) and those who would have been eligible for Medicaid even without the Affordable Care Act. Yet, the new insureds really are no better off as they must absorb large deductibles and co-payments to access their coverage. This is prohibitive for many.
When the Democrats were passing the ACA we were told, depending on the audience that there were 30,000,000 to 50,000,000 uninsured people in the country who would benefit from passing the ACA. Lets split it and call it 40 million uninsured. If those numbers were true then there should have been a stampede to sign up for coverage last year and this year. The Health and Human Services claims the number of signups this year is 10.4 million Remember, though we were not told the truth about 2015 signups. It was eventually exposed and finally admitted by the administration that they had lied and the number of signups was actually 6.3 million and not the 8.7 million they touted until they were exposed. There was no confirmation of how many of the current 10.4 million were previously insured and lost their coverage due to the ACA. In reality there may have been only 5 million newly insured. The total insured may have been well below 8 million by the end of last year.
My premiums have increased 64% since 2013 with higher deductibles and co-payments while I am also forced to subsidize the insurance of others. The Democrats can be proud of themselves. They gave Obama his signature accomplishment and now the Democrats own it. It has them the Congress and it was a significant factor in costing them the Presidency. It would have been better for Congress to have allocated an assigned risk pool of funds to assist those who were shut out of the standard insurance markets by pre-existing conditions instead of this giant exercise in absurdity and lunacy.
We were lied to again and again and again by this administration. Jonathan Gruber, one of the plan's major architects confirmed the level of deceit by the Democrats. Hard working tax paying citizens are being forced to subsidize health care for others, meanwhile many have lost their own coverage and are being forced to purchase insurance with higher premiums and higher deductibles and co-payments. Despite Obama's claim it would reduce premiums an average of $2,500.00 per family this year's true numbers of participants will continue to drop, primarily due to the cost. A recent report stated more and more Obamacare recipients cancelled their policies even after being afforded great leniency by the very liberal rules set by this administration.
So we had to totally disrupt health coverage that many were happy with, had to endure a total revision of the healthcare system all for less than 3% of the population of this country. This continues to prove how incompetent the Obama administration was and so ill prepared to govern. . The Democrat Congress and President Obama passed a defective bill and will continue to pay the price for it. The Democrat Congress had to assure Obama got his signature accomplishment. The Democrats now own it lock, stock and barrel.

So the two negative impacts are if you are single filer and make between 191650 and 416K it goes up 2%.. If you make less than 9300 it goes up 2%. Comparative with married filing jointly.. If you make less than 9300 you will get all of your money back and then some with earned income tax credit.. so they don't count.

frick righteous concern....if your premiums went up you were a parasite on the health care system....you weren't carrying your weight....you were being subsidized....and for a short period you were required to be responsible for yourself and you want a return to the day when you could buy a shitt, meaningless policy or none at all and then when you need care someone else has to pay more because you are a deadbeat. Anyone who doubts this please, please, please take a stab at explaining the number of people WITH insurance who find themselves getting callls from collection agencies over unpaid medical bills. It's because they are underinsured or uninsured....

You were being subsidized by other policy holders. Being responsible for yourself sucks, don't it?

My BCBS plan, a good not great plan, is $24,000 per year family of 5.
Has increased like 40 and then 25 percent over two years.

Your premiums went up because you weren't paying what your policy actually cost.....or you had a shitty policy, the same shitty policy that created the medical collections industry.....because you weren't carrying your own weight.....just like the uninsured and the underinsured....

There was about 100 billion $ in bad medical debt in the us the year before the ACA. Number one cause of bankruptcy. Right at 25% of American adults have a bad medical debt on their credit report averaging $1700. Lots of dead beats with too little insurance in the US.........
