We will see how weak the Sec is this bowl season. Still goin against the best athletes in the country hands down. Still had 5 conf road games. And how many times in the last 4 or 5 years did Lsu go 6-2 n conference play? Don’t remember the final teams recruiting ranking but I’ve followed closely the last 5 years and imo O signed the best freshman class I’ve seen. He is trying to hire the best OC available that’s best for Lsu. So I see a younger team that may outdo last years team loaded with nfl talent. O has gone 16-5 as HC and recruited well. 16-3 minus everyone but Saban is good. And I think he will field a team that beats Saban in the next few years. He’s done enough to warrant support from the fan base. At least for another year or two

To intentionally veer into a tangent...

I'm not convinced the SEC, as a whole, is "down". It's somewhat of a matter of semantics, but "down" may be the wrong word. Less parity may be accurate. And yes, the bowl games will go a long way to saying which it is.

The W has been a 2-team race for years with a couple wannabes. It's been a while since a 3rd team was hoping for a tie-breaker scenario (Arky vs Bama/LSU, 2011?) which, to me, defines it as 2-team races.

The E seems to have a champ by week 8 every year. Just kind of rotates.

So we still have the same scenarios at the top. It's the bottom that changed. They weren't going to win a division anyway, could only hope for an outside chance of being somebody's spoiler. So if the bottom two in a division won 3 conf games or 5, doesn't seem to me to have affected the conf. overall strength that much. Just the best stayed the best and the worst changed names.

And yes, in a manner less parity = weaker. But that assumes the higher ranked teams stayed the same. With that in mind, for the first time 2 from same conf are in CFB playoffs and who was in depended on the conf championship. So that means 3 teams (at the top) were in the running, not 1. So the assumption that the top 2 or 3 in each division stayed the same is probably not a good one.
