Love the color. Cool guitar. Now you need to play the heck out of it and give it some mojo.

Yeah playing it is night and day different that my sons Squier.
Can’t let him know that. When he does find out I’ll be shopping for pickups band a soldering iron.

When you step up from the cheap guitars to the Mexican builds and then up to the Japan/American builds, you can feel it at each step. You can look online and compare features, but when you get them in your hand and play them, you know the difference.

YouTube for a few minutes and got frustrated.
Cleaning this fretboard? This maple fretboard is highly treated. Lacquered, shellacked, aging compound almost to give it color. You name it or correct me as to what the proper term is. But this is not bare untreated maple. And not some mild Tung Oil finish.
What should I clean this finish with? I assume lemon oil is out? I have proper fretboard lemon oil. But every YouTube video shows a filthy untreated board and guys using oils, PLEDGE, naphtha, and other stuff. Then the comment section is a pissing contest of people mocking the dude in the video.
So I somewhat trust this pissing contest. So here i am.
Again the guitar is not filthy. It's just a used item and I don't know who had it. Could have been some sore picking meth head. Why else would you sell this guitar to GC?
My plan is to restring and clean after further instruction.

I'd start with just hot breath and a rag. If there is any grunge left, then you can use naphtha to clean it.

A blog I wrote on guitar fingerboard care is HERE
The fingerboard is very likely a satin gloss. Most MIM maple-board Fenders are.
On your guitar, you can clean pretty much everything with naphtha. The maple board and neck, the poly finish body, the hardware, the plastics, etc.

Nah man. This thing has a thick poly (I’m gonna call it poly) gloss finish on it. Like a bar or countertop you can see yourself in. Is that an after purchase thing the previous owner did to it?
I have zero complaints. Love the thing. Just don’t want to screw it up.
I’ll read the blog now. ETA. Had no idea you had a blog. Thanks.
